Breastfeeding: The Debate

I agree so much with this, I breastfed my daughter and it was hard I admit only because I wasn’t producing enough milk so I was only able to breastfeed for three weeks. I was out in public with her a lot so I usually had to feed her in public and the looks I got made me feel horrible like I was doing something wrong by breastfeeding my daughter.

This is a blog detailing something I feel passionate about—but for once, it’s not books!! It’s a women’s issue—and my books are full of women’s issues.

Breastfeeding? What do we think? Which of these is your opinion?

  • Yuck – lactating, abnormal tits on display. It’s weird. Why do mothers feel the need to do it in public?
  • I try to cop a look whenever I see a nursing mother. Right on!
  • It’s beautiful.
  • Wasn’t there a sketch on Little Britain about that?
  • Breastfed children – do they ever leave home?
  • It’s nature. Not bothered…
  • I live in Australia. It’s everywhere.
  • I know nothing about it.

I’ve seen a lot of debate on the internet about this subject recently and some of it quite frankly made me laugh! Apparently society has gone from throwing nursing mothers out of Harrods or wherever, to slating those mothers who bottle feed publicly… crazy, much?

Just received the 400th review for my psychological thriller, THE MEMORY BOX (about a woman who Googles herself and discovers the shocking details of a past she doesn’t remember) on Amazon! And it was a goodie! Thank you Mtngrannie wherever (whoever) you are!

I am so grateful to all you reviewers out there! I read every single one. And since we all know that 1 in 87.3 readers write reviews for books, my calculations tell me that 43,962.7 people have presumably read THE MEMORY BOX. Whoa, my brain is exploding right now . . . (Not sure about any of those figures, honestly.)

It’s time for me to share some love right back atcha. Since today is Mother’s Day, I’m going to give away 5 signed copies of Not Your Mother’s Book On Being a Mom & Not Your Mother’s Book On Family. My story, Where Did I Go…

WIP (Work in progress)

My current work in progress was from the April Camp NaNoWriMo and is one of five short stories that I am writing for a series.

Rosalie and Billy is the first short story in the Full Moon High series. Full Moon High is about Rosalie and her friends trying to survive a new threat of hunters banding together to exterminate the werewolf race. No matter the cost.

Update 3/23/15

So my daughter is 11 months old now, had three teeth and not much more hair then she did when she was born.

11 months old

I actually think she had more hair when she was born than she does now if that makes any sense.

Just born

Only one more month and she will be a year old, it didn’t seem like almost an entire year had gone by since I gave birth.

Camp NaNoWriMo is starting up again in April as well but I don’t think I will be participating this time around so good luck to the rest of you!

Hello again!

Hello all, it’s the time of Camp NaNoWriMo again and this year I’ve been able to participate. Not as much as I would like, word count is only 3,697 out of 15,000 and its day 5, but that’s how it works once you have a child to care for :).
Due to my 2 1/2 month old daughter I haven’t been getting much writing done except from 10 pm until 1 or 2 am these past few nights and she gets up around 6 or 8 am most mornings.
Any mom’s out there doing Camp NaNoWriMo and have advice on how to get the count up while also caring for a young child? Also if anyone is doing Camp NaNoWriMo at all please share how you’re finding it and your progress with it so far.

So in early May I’ll be expecting a little girl, my first child as well as my fiancé’s first child, and starting in February I’ll begin the milwordy challenge to write a million words in a year. This month had been about planning the outlines for the books since I didn’t hear about the challenge until mid January haha :). If anyone else is doing milwordy let me know and we can keep each other up to date as we go!
